Mechanical Technician Property Maintenance
Job overview
The successful applicant will have experience with complex systems and previous exposure to safe working methods, and the ability to work on a diverse range of plants.
Additional training and development will be given as part of a formal training plan to ensure safe work systems are maintained at all times.
This role will also require participation in the department’s on-call system. This is to ensure that our service is delivered to our Hospital’s 24-hours a day, seven days a week
This is currently a one in six arrangement allowing for annual leave and standard working.
Main duties of the job- The duties include highly complex fault finding and maintenance on all aspects of engineering plant and equipment throughout the Trust.
- The duties must be carried out within strict timescales and statutory guidelines.
- The post holder must participate in the pre-planned on-call rota as part of an approved structure (following suitable training).
- Planned and reactive maintenance tasks will take up a majority of this role, and an excellent all-around working knowledge of basic engineering systems is therefore essential.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- C&G, NVQ or similar mechanical discipline
- Line management qualification, HNC or HND, Competent person, time served apprenticeship
Experience
Essential criteria- • Experience of working with advanced plumbing and/or mechanical systems.
- Fault finding on mechanical with skills to isolate, keep running and fully repair.
- Experience of delivering safe water services tasks, temperature monitoring, cleaning and chlorination of taps/TMV’s and falt finding on systems.
- • To have experience in working within healthcare premises • Working with a PDA installed with CAFM, MICAD and Zetasafe
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria- • To have sound knowledge of mechanical systems.
- In depth knowledge of the HaSaWA and other relevant acts, standards and guidance notes
- To have an understanding of permit to work systems, risk assessments and good working practices.
- • To have the ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
