The Clinical Support Worker role has been developed to support the clinical team in caring for Cardiothoracic ITU patients and their loved ones, and ensuring clean and organised clinical areas.
We are looking for someone who with healthcare experience, preferably in acute care, and who possess the following attributes. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Ability to work confidently and collaboratively across professional boundaries and use your initiative.Ability to work flexibly according to the day-to-day service needs. Willingness to develop within this role.
We have a dedicated critical care education team. We will support you to develop your confidence and competence through a programme of supervised practice, bespoke critical care specific competencies and study days.
Main duties of the job
The CSW role supports the clinical team in caring for Level 2 & 3 patients and their loved ones following cardiothoracic procedures and surgery and ensuring clean and organised clinical areas. You would be responsible for providing fundamental aspects of patient care at the direction of the qualified nursing team to ensure critically ill patients and their loved ones receive high quality, dignified and respectful care.

Experience Band 3
Essential criteria- Experience of working in health or social care
- Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.
Knowledge and Skills Band 2/3
Essential criteria- Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective team work.
Qualifications Band 3
Essential criteria- Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE A-C/4-9 or Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (https://www.enic-naric.net/)
- Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experi-ence in a range of clinical care du-ties equivalent to Level 3.
