The MSK Care Group at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services for the entire adult population of Sheffield. Delivering both inpatient and outpatient care, our clinical specialty areas include Orthopaedics and Spinal Surgery, Rheumatology, Chronic Pain Management, Metabolic Bone, The Hand Centre, PhysioWorks, Staff Physiotherapy Service, MSK Therapy Services and Podiatric Surgery.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Hand and Podiatric services as a deputy Service Manager. We are looking for an experienced, motivated and independently minded person, able to act on their own initiative within agreed guidelines and manage the plans and performance of the Hand Centre and Podiatric Surgery under the direction of the service manager.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide direct support to the Service Manager (and cover during absence) ensuring the service is progressed and not compromised.
This role will require the post holder to have a level of leadership and operational experience including budget management, workforce planning and performance management.

Essential criteria- Degree (or equivalent experience) and post graduate diploma (or equivalent)
- Masters Degree in Management
Experience
Essential criteria- Relevant experience of managing a hospital service including budgetary, patient access, and performance management
- Relevant staff management experience
- Using data to make successful decisions and presenting data to others
- Implementing Trust or Directorate Policies
- Managing information systems
- Clear understanding of NHS policy and detailed knowledge of current NHS targets including 18 weeks and cancer waiting times
