An opportunity has arisen for a Learning & Development Assistant to join the Learning & Development Team.

This a varied role providing high quality administrative support services for the Learning & Development Team. The Learning & Development Assistant role co-ordinates the Trust Training Programme: arranging training courses, liaising with course facilitators and subject matter experts, and providing an efficient and effective booking and completion recording service for staff training.

The role is the first point of contact for staff with enquiries for the Learning & Development Team, and will assist with enquiries on the telephone, by email or face-to-face. The Learning & Development Assistant will also provide eLearning support to staff.

Main duties of the job

Support the provision of all learning and development for Trust staff. Ensure the high standards which the department currently maintains are upheld.

Use various computer systems including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 apps. Use the Trust's Learning Management System, Learning Lab, to carry out their responsibilities.

Organise, administer and promote the Trust’s Training Programme as well as personal development training. Arrange training courses, liaise with course facilitators and venues, take course bookings and co-ordinate delivery of pre-course learning materials.

Implement weekly and monthly standard procedures/audits and record, maintain and report on training data.

The key functions of the department are:

  • To help staff realise their potential, to identify and develop leadership capabilities within the organisation and to ensure that all staff joining the organisation have an effective induction welcome.
  • To be responsible for developing, facilitating and implementing all aspects of education, training and organisational development for the Trust.
  • Ensure that national and local initiatives are met, including employee development and mandatory training.
  • Leading and supporting activities linked to the Trust’s role as an educator and clinical placement provider for pre-registration and post-registration programmes.

The successful applicant must have experience of working in either a customer service or office environment.

Strong computer literacy, excellent communication skills, highly organised and the ability to multi-task are also required key attributes.

Whilst NHS Experience is desirable, this is not essential.

Essential criteria
  • GSCE ‘C’ grade or equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ/QCF level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent
  • IT qualification equivalent to GCSE grade ‘C’
  • ITIL certification

Skills/Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • IT literate
  • An ability to learn new systems and processes
  • Fast, accurate keyboard skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Methodical approach to organisation of delivery of tasks, with excellent attention to detail

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a customer service or office environment
  • Experience of inputting data accurately and quickly

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of organising Training courses/events
  • Experience of using ESR or a learning management system
  • Helpdesk experience
  • Experience of working in a Learning & Development or Training setting
