An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic midwife to join the rainbow team. The post holder will work as a skilled practitioner, responsible for the delivery of women-focused care for those who meet the criteria for the Rainbow Service.The post holder is required to be an autonomous, accountable practitioner who will be part of the Rainbow Midwifery team supporting the Band 7 midwives in offering compassionate and knowledgeable antenatal care and continuity for women and their families using these services.
Main duties of the job
Will be an autonomous, accountable practitioner responsible for providing routine and additional antenatal care for women who meet the criteria for Rainbow Care Pathway. Working closely and effectively within the MDT to ensure that individual pathways of care are coordinated and safely undertaken.
The post holder will support the Band 7 Rainbow Midwives in enabling the objectives of the Rainbow service according to the trust guidelines, by ensuring that all women and families receive safe, competent and compassionate care.
The Successful applicant will be responsible for facilitating the administrative requirements within these teams including phone/email contact with families, data collection and ensuring all necessary referrals and other clinical and administrative processes are updated and completed in a timely manner.
Excellent personal communication skills are essential to ensure that sensitive and trauma-informed communication is shared with women/birthing people and families as they navigate complex pregnancy journeys. Appropriate advocacy and assertiveness must be demonstrated to ensure that individual needs are appropriately met.

The Maternity unit deliver just under 5000 babies a year. We provide care for a diverse population across West Berkshire. Part of our maternity strategy is equity in access and outcomes tackling the multiple dimensions that affect local healthcare inequalities.
The unit comprises of a delivery suite, midwife led birth centre, postnatal and antenatal wards, outpatients and Day Assessment Unit. We have a very successful home birth service, specialist teams to support vulnerable women and continuity of care teams.
We have developed a 'seeking sanctuary ' service which is a mutidisciplinary approach to providing care to pregnant women seeking sanctuary in the UK and their families. This service was presented as good practice in the NHS three year delivery plan.
We have an established joint led services for rainbow, bereavement, diabetes, fetal medicine, pre term birth.
