This job description outlines your primary duties and responsibilities. It should be read in conjunction with the Company’s Terms and Conditions of Employment and Policies and Procedures, both of which can be obtained from the Manager.Job Summary:
To assist in the safe smooth running of the kitchen: Ensuring that a high standard of food is served at all times and that it is always well presented to the customer and on the menu.
To ensure that a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance is constantly maintained in accordance with the Home's policies, the Environmental Health Officer (EHO) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To keep all food and food storage areas clean and tidy and give EHO or CQC any cause for complaint. The Company Cleaning Schedule should be USED.
- To assist the Chef in the preparation of meals.
- To help the Chef use flair and imagination in preparing and cooking meals for the residents in the Home. Meals should be well balanced, appetising, nutritious and well presented with garnish and served with the appropriate accompaniments.
- To help Chef in providing staff in the Home with meals in accordance with the staff meals policy
- To work as part of a team within the Home, responding to all reasonable requests from the Manager and Management with respect to catering for functions and special events, or improving or maintaining standards.
- To assist in completing the cleaning schedules and record temperatures of hot/cold food and fridges/freezers.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Attend fire lectures, demonstrations and all training sessions as part of an in-house training programme, as required.
SUMMARY
Staff are required to carry out duties to the best of their ability in accordance with the wishes and instructions of the Company Directors.The prime function is the care of the residents, but due to the requirements within the Home, time is usually available during the shift to assist with other tasks. This contributes to meeting the needs of the residents and includes some duties that may otherwise have been thought to be outside the requirements of your job description.
Job descriptions will all be reviewed periodically and may be altered, in agreement with the post holder at any time and in line with current working practices.
