The Therapeutic Care team are keen to recruit motivated and enthusiastic support workers.

The team is unique in how it delivers care, improves patient safety and experience within the hospital setting. The service provides 1:1 care and support for patients who require continuous enhanced observation at the James Cook site. And although the role can be challenging, it is extremely rewarding.

With strong support structure in place, and opportunities for individuals to grow and develop within the healthcare setting. This post can also offer the opportunity for apprenticeship study which will support progression from Band 2 to Band 3.

Main duties of the job

Working for our organisation

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff. This training programme has been designed to support our staff in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the following training sessions:

  • Your Leadership Impact
  • Service Improvement for Beginners

After you complete these one and a half days of training, you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

Knoweldge

Essential criteria
  • Communicates well with good listening skills and is able to adopt an appropriate style and method of communication.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
  • Ability to use initiative to make a decision within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where assistance is required.
Desirable criteria
  • NHS Experience

Qualifications Band 3

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 English and Maths functional skills
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in Care (Level 2 Diploma in HealthCare) or able to demonstrate appropriate transferable experience

Qualifications Band 2

Desirable criteria
  • Level 1 English and Maths functional skills
  • NVQ Level 2 in Care (Level 2 Diploma in HealthCare) or able to demonstrate appropriate transferable experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working as part of a team
  • A team player able to work well with others and demonstrate commitment to team objectives.

Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)

It is now the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost of their DBS. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay.
