Working pattern:

Shifts are 12.25 hours: 7.45am – 8.00pm and 7.45pm – 8.00am.

We have opportunities to work 2, 3 or 4 shifts per week.

Opportunity to work additional hours to cover annual leave, etc.

Pay per hour: Weekday (7 am to 11 pm) = £14.45 - £15.45

Weekends/Bank Holidays (7 am to 11 pm) = £15.45 - £16.45
Sleeping nights = £11.44
£14.45 per hour, if no BSL qualification / £15.45 per hour, if BSL qualified

Funding will be provided to obtain a BSL qualification and pay rate will increase once BSL 1 qualification is achieved

The ability to drive using my Motability car is essential

I am looking for a warm, patient, friendly, sensitive and reliable individual to provide support and facilitate my independence as I make the exciting move into my own home. I am a 35 year old lady who lives in Bridgend and have cerebral palsy which has caused physical difficulties and a learning disability.

I have profound hearing loss and use Sign Supported English to communicate, I want a support worker to help me increase my independence in my home and to access a variety of community activities. I would like a support worker who is bubbly and fun.

The work is varied and involves assisting me to engage in everyday activities such as food preparation, shopping, home maintenance as well as leisure activities in the community and supporting me to attend therapy sessions. I enjoy going for coffee and lunch, visiting the cinema, musical shows and, going for walks.

I also attend weekly art and horse-riding lessons.

You will work as part of a small team to provide support and assistance whilst promoting my independence and life skills at every opportunity. Your work will be guided by our client’s therapy team, consisting of OT, SLT, physio & psychology.

Occasionally it will be necessary to work additional hours to cover annual leave within the team.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the needs of a client with cognitive and physical difficulties, excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a consistent and proactive approach. Previous experience in a similar role is essential.

Experience of working with clients with communication difficulties is desirable and BSL knowledge or a willingness to learn BSL is essential.

A full induction and training will be provided, this role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check.
