Product Manager (Growth Team)

We're putting together a talented team to build the #1 training platform for Runners

We help everyday runners become outstanding by providing world-class training, coaching and community for everyone, whether you're improving your 5k time or training for your first marathon. To date we have built iOS, Android and Apple watch apps that help people achieve their goals by coaching them through the full journey and syncing to their favourite fitness devices.

We’re growing extremely fast! in November 2023 we closed a $6.5M funding round led by JamJar with participation from Eka Ventures, Venrex and Creator Ventures. In 2024, we were selected by Apple as one of three global finalists for the 2024 iPhone App of the Year, reflecting the innovation and impact of what we’ve built & now in 2025 we have ****just been acquired by Strava!

🤯 🎉

We want to grow as fast as we can into the future and are looking for individuals who will help us get there. Our aim is to reach millions of subscribers and be the go-to training platform for any runner. Now is a magical time to join and with our recent acquisition it makes the journey even more exciting!

🚀

What you'll be doing

As a Product Manager within the Growth team, you will work alongside the Head of Growth, playing a pivotal role in driving user activation, engagement, and long-term retention.

Your mission will be to deeply understand user behaviour, identify friction points, and implement strategies that keep users engaged, coming back, and ultimately forming a long-term habit with Runna. This will include leveraging gamification techniques and encouraging adoption of highly retentive features.

You will lead a cross-functional team of engineers and designers, building and executing a roadmap that is data-driven, experimental, and fast-moving.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Activation & Retention Strategy: Own and drive the strategy for improving user activation and long-term retention. Identify opportunities to remove friction, increase engagement, and create habit-forming experiences.
  • Gamification & Feature Adoption: Develop and test features that encourage continued engagement, such as XP,streaks, badges, challenges, leaderboards and referral loops.
  • Roadmap Development: Define and communicate a clear vision and strategy for activation and retention. Prioritise high-impact initiatives that will improve key user lifecycle metrics.
  • Experimentation & Iteration: Work in a high-velocity test-and-learn environment. Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on new ideas using A/B testing and cohort analysis to measure impact.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use analytics, user research, and behavioural data to understand drop-off points, identify key engagement levers, and continuously optimise user journeys.
  • User Experience Enhancement: Work closely with designers to create intuitive, engaging, and habit-formingproduct experiences that encourage long-term retention.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with CRM and wider product teams to ensure activation and retention initiatives are fully integrated across the user journey.
  • Industry & Competitor Analysis: Stay up to date with best practices in gaming, habit-building consumer apps, and high-growth mobile products to bring innovative ideas into Runna.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone that loves…
  • Creating Habit-Forming Experiences: You’re fascinated by what keeps users coming back to an app and how to build products that drive long-term engagement.
  • Executing at speed: Proven track record of working closely with engineers and designers to scope lean and value-creating features, understanding how we measure success and then scaling and iterating them based on these metrics.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture and develop long-term plans while also being detail-oriented and hands-on, overseeing multiple simultaneous experiments & growth initiatives.
  • Engaging With Users: Deep empathy for users and a passion for creating or improving products to enhance their lives. Ability to confidently chat with users and translate user needs into actionable roadmap items.
  • Diving into Data: Proficient in using data and analytics to drive decision-making. Comfortable with metrics, KPIs, and conducting experiments.
  • Communicating: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly articulate ideas, requirements, and feedback to diverse teams.
  • Leading and Collaborating: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving growth through fast and iterative experimentation. Ability to motivate and organise the work of multiple team members.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Ability to pivot quickly in response to changing priorities or market conditions.

What experience we’re looking for

We care the most about you looking at the “We’re looking for someone that loves…” section and thinking “Wow this role was made for me.” That said, we do need you to have 2+ years of proven experience in Product Management, preferably in a mobile-first, high-growth consumer app.

About you:

  • You are data and results-driven. You love to test, learn, iterate and repeat. You’re motivated by seeing the quantifiable impact of the team’s work
  • You’ve worked in mobile-first, consumer-facing products, ideally in gaming, fitness, or habit-building apps.
  • You’re a “doer”; not just a “thinker”. You’re hands on and want to roll up your sleeves / get stuck in
  • You’re a problem-solver with a strategic mind. You see the bigger picture but also understand the importance of small, iterative improvements.
  • You’re organised, efficient, and can execute at pace
  • You take your work seriously, but don’t take yourself seriously
  • You’re London based (or able to work in person 2+ days per week)

Bonus points if you:

  • Have a background in gaming, consumer psychology, or retention-focused mobile apps.
  • Have experience or a deep interest in streaks, leaderboards, progress tracking, and other engagement loops that keep users hooked.
  • Have a technical background (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics) and/or can code
  • Have worked in (react-native) mobile application teams
  • Have a strong interest in the health/fitness technologies
  • Enjoy running! Or have a passion for our mission
