Are you interested in delivering high quality physiotherapy to patients with complex rehabilitation needs following prolonged illness and to those with neurological conditions?

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to work independently across the medical wards delivering specialist rehabilitation to our neuro outlier patients as part of the wider medical team. This is an exciting new role that gives the opportunity to develop the neuro and rehabilitation skills across the medical team.
  • To take a leading role in the advanced assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients within the clinical speciality. These patients may have complex and/or chronic presentation and maybe in A&E or the wards.
  • Touse highly specialist, physiotherapy knowledge and skills to manage a complex caseload as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To ensure a thorough in-service training programme is provided to all members of the team to maintain clinical competency.
  • To act as a specialist resource for the multi-disciplinary team and Physiotherapists within FHFT.
  • To work with the MDT to develop, monitor and evaluate the specialist service, enhancing pathways in line with national guidelines.
  • To lead in appropriate research and audit in the specific clinical area.
  • To support the band 7 Team Lead within the speciality and deputise for them as appropriate.
  • To undertake respiratory on call for the Trust.
  • To be physiotherapy co-ordinator and link for clinical specialism, ensuring excellent overall management of patients

  • To be responsible forthe efficient, effective and safe physiotherapy management of all patients within speciality.
  • Toreceive referrals, undertake full assessment and plan individual, specialised, evidence-based, treatment programmes for patients, this will require sound clinical reasoning and a variety of highly specialist skills such as use of respiratory and ventilatory adjuncts.
  • To be responsible for the coordination and undertaking of complex clinical procedures specific to speciality.
  • To use recognised outcome measures to evaluate the effect of physiotherapy interventions and ensure the treatment programmes are progressing appropriately.
  • To prioritise work efficiently taking into account clinical and service priorities, using effective organisational skills and highly specialist knowledge to underpin decisions.
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of clinical risk, knowledge of indications and precautions of chosen techniques in the line with national and trust clinical guidelines, protocols and pathways where they exist.
  • To advise, guide and teach physiotherapy staff, in the management of patients and their related problems, to ensure they are competent to treat patients at weekends or when on call.
  • To advise, guide and teach physiotherapy students, in the management of patients and their related problems whilst they are on a placement with Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
  • To develop profession specific practices and local guidelines and keep abreast of new physiotherapy techniques in relation to the management of patients within speciality.
  • To establish good relationships with patients promoting and empowering a life long model of self care and appropriate activity to maintain good health.
