Position Title: Homeless Response Support Assistant

20 hours per week

£12.00 per hour

Job Description and Summary:
The Homeless Response Support Assistant is a vital member of our team at Cornerstone Supported Housing and Counselling. This flexible role supports the operations of our homeless response services including the rough sleeper outreach project, emergency ‘first steps’ accommodation service, community hub and retail outlet.

The assistant plays a crucial part in ensuring the seamless delivery of services and fostering the growth of initiatives aimed at addressing homelessness. Hours and responsibilities may adapt as needed to meet the evolving needs of our clients and the service.

Key Responsibilities:
Community Support:
  • Assist in the execution of community projects such as assertive outreach and the
First Steps Scheme, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Assist in supporting the community hub and retail operations.
  • Record and monitor service activities and outcomes effectively.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings to promote engagement with community support
initiatives.
  • Help train and support volunteers involved in community services.
  • Engage with service users to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
Hub and Retail Operations:
  • Support daily operations at the hub and retail outlet, ensuring adherence to
established procedures and health and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with the collection and delivery of donations
and furniture when necessary.
  • Support with ensuring the efficient operation of community support services,
including information tracking and issue resolution.
  • Assist with inventory management and ensure that retail displays are maintained and

appealing.

Maintenance:
  • Provide assistance for building property maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure timely repair completion.
  • Identify and report any maintenance issues to ensure the safety and functionality of

the facilities.

Business Development:
  • Generate innovative ideas to enhance income and develop new services within the
homeless response program.
  • Be flexible in providing support across various areas of the homeless response
program and the rest of the organisation, stepping in as needed to cover other areas.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events and community

engagement activities.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Homeless Response team
leader or management to support the overall mission of the organisation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity of all service users in all interactions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Level 2 qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to the homeless
response program.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging in community support activities and participating in meetings and events.
  • Proficiency in recording and monitoring service activities.
  • Interest in business development and fundraising efforts.
  • Flexibility to address operational needs outside regular working hours, with the
understanding that hours may change to meet the needs of clients and services.
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle, or the ability to obtain one within an

agreed timeframe.
