Apprentice Wood Product Manufacturing Operative - 14727

The Garden Village Limited in Altham are recruiting for an Apprentice Wood Product Manufacturing Operative. The successful candidate will work towards completing a Level 2 Wood Product Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship over the duration of months.

• Plan and prepare the work area to undertake wood product manufacturing operations.
• Select the correct type and quantity of components and materials.
• Select, set up and operate machinery, tools and equipment used to produce wood components.
• Prepare and operate automated crosscut equipment.
• Use and maintain jigs and templates for wood product manufacturing operations.
• Position wood components and ensure products are secured and in accordance with the work specification.
• Assemble and sand materials/wood components to the work specification and given tolerances.
• Read, interpret, and follow SOP’s and job specifications/instructions.
• Identify faults and issues, for example incorrect or defective wood, defective machinery; and applying solutions.
• Pack and store products and component in readiness for dispatching.
• Complete and fulfil all order requirements, as per production list, for targets set on a daily and weekly basis.
• Comply with organisational and statutory environmental and sustainability considerations, for example disposal of waste, recycling of materials and efficient use of resources.
• Check and inspect work to ensure it meets the work specification; undertake rectification or rework where necessary.
• Report work outcomes and/or problems.
• Comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements, for example safe use of personal and respiratory protective equipment, statutory regulations, and industry standards/codes of practice.
• Identify risks and hazards in the workplace and apply appropriate control measures.
• Communicate - verbal and/or written, for example with colleagues and/or customers.
• Complete work documentation, for example job sheets, time sheets.

• Driving / Forklift license an advantage

• GCSE Maths & English grade 4 or above

Hours of work: Monday - Wednesday 08:15-17:15, Thursday 08:15-16:15, Friday 08:15-15:45 (30 min break) 37.5 hours per week
