Job overview
The Senior Management Accountant is a key role in the Division ensuring the delivery of month end reporting, business planning, Cost Improvement Plan analysis and costing, and supporting the development of business cases. The Senior Management Accountant reports directly to the Deputy Finance Manager and deputises for them as required.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality analytical service to the R&D and Medical Education Business Partnering Team to support the delivery of an appropriate Financial Risk Rating as determined by the Financial Compliance Framework.
To provide assurance to the Finance Manager/Deputy Finance Manager of the quality of historic and forecast financial information through completion of analytical review processes.
To be accountable to the Finance Manager/Deputy Finance Manager for the adherence to Trust financial policies and procedures, statutory requirements and requirements from Department of Health, Monitor and the Trust Development Agency.
The post holder must be part qualified with a CCAB or equivalent qualification, and have significant experience within finance and be fully committed to Continuous Professional Development

Essential criteria- Part qualified CCAB
Experience
Essential criteria- Relevant work experience within the NHS or similar sized Organisation
- Experience of computerised financial systems
- Experience in accounting e.g. processing journals
- Experience of reconciliation
- Worked in R&D or Education
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria- Accounting skills including financial analysis, reconciliation and simple modelling
- Able to work autonomously with the skills to make simple decisions independently
- Ability to work with competing priorities to meet deadlines
