This is an exciting opportunity to join the Occupational Therapy Neuro Rehab rotation, within the wider Integrated Neurology therapy services at Croydon Healthcare services NHS Trust.
We are looking for an individual with neuro experience and a keen interest in Neuro rehabilitation to join the Integrated neuro therapy team in Croydon.
The successful candidate will provide a range of specialized rehabilitation OT input, to patients with neurological conditions, enabling them to achieve their full potential. The post holder is an autonomous practitioner but will work under the supervision of a Band 7 Occupational therapist and will be expected to work in a variety of settings including Broad Green Centre, the patient’s own home, other community settings and Croydon University Hospital, as required within the rotations.

Main duties of the job
The rotations are:
- Stroke unit : Working on the 26 bedded Acute Stroke unit at Croydon University Hospital(CUH) as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing in-patient rehabilitation for people who have suffered a stroke
- Community Stroke Rehab Team: This multidisciplinary team is based on the Acute Stroke Unit at CUH. The team facilitates the discharge of patients from Croydon University Hospital and local Hyper Acute Stroke Units, who have had a Stroke. Rehabilitation is provided in the patients’ home for up to 6 weeks, enabling them to achieve their rehabilitation potential.
- Community Neuro Rehab Team: This multidisciplinary team is based at the Broad Green Centre, providing centre based or home/work based therapy for up to 14 weeks. You will be supporting adults with a wide variety of neurological conditions, including Stroke, MS and Head Injury. Therapy is provided in individual and group sessions.
- Croydon Acute Neuro Service: This team provides in patient rehabilitation for people who have been admitted to Croydon university hospital, with neurological problems, other than stroke.
The successful candidate will be supervised and supported by an experienced Band 7 OT in each rotation and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in neurorehabilitation. Person specification
Education and qualification
Essential criteria- BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC Registered as OT
- Postgraduate training relevant to Stroke
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Essential criteria- Knowledge of a range of OT models and demonstrate being up to date with trends and developments in OT stroke rehab
- Awareness of clinical guidelines and NSF’s in Stroke rehabilitation
Experience
Essential criteria- Postgraduate, incorporating experience in a variety of relevant core specialities, including stroke rehab
- Experience working as an OT with adults in NHS
- Previous OT Band 6 experience with adults
- Previous Community Band 6 OT experience with adults
