Barts Health NHS Trust is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Lead Education, Training and Development Pharmacy Technician, based at The Royal London Hospital working within group services.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with current UK GPhC registration as a Pharmacy Technician and significant experience in tutoring, mentoring, and developing staff. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping our training programmes and supporting the growth of our pharmacy workforce.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- • BTEC level 3 Diploma in principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent.
- • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- • Practice Supervisor Accreditation
- • Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
- • ILM 3 or equivalent leadership /management qualification
- • HEE LaSE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent
- • Education Supervisor accreditation or A1 Assessor or equivalent
- • Training qualification, e.g. CertEd or PETLs
- • Project Management qualification
- • QI training
- • Coaching or mentoring qualification level 3 or above
Experience
Essential criteria- • Significant experience as a pharmacy technician
- • Relevant post-registration experience in an acute hospital’s pharmacy department
- • Experience of training staff, giving developmental feedback and implementing training plans
- • Demonstrable experience of providing pharmacy professional training, and supporting training for NVQs
- • Experience of tutoring / mentoring / supervising staff / trainees
- • Setting SMART objectives and creating action plans
- • Experience of completing audits
- • Use of Datix incident reporting system or equivalent
- • Experience of conducting appraisals, one to one meetings and organising meetings with practice supervisors and others
- • Experience of patient consultations
- • Experience of procedure development and review
- • Experience of recruitment and selection
- • Experience of work within pharmacy education and training
- • Experience of delivering training sessions
- • Management of staff, including experience of conducting disciplinary meetings and chairing meetings with practice supervisors
- • Experience of implementing change
- • Experience in showcasing project work at national and regional conference via poster submission or presentations
Knowledge
Essential criteria- • Understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements and evidence of application to practice
- • Awareness of NHS agenda relating to Training and Development
- • Knowledge of the career pathway of a pharmacy technician
- • Understanding of available post qualification training and development opportunities for pharmacy staff
- • Knowledge of medicines management systems at ward level
- • Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work
- • Understanding of stock control systems
- • Knowledge of drugs, side effects and where to find further information
- • Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements
- • Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and legislation
- • Understand customer care issues.
