Youth Mentor (SEN / alternative education)
About the 1:1 Mentoring role:
Hourly Rate: £20 per hour, PAYE.Location: Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole
Days required: 5 days per week- Monday to Friday (Term time only)
Flexible working hours: 9am-12pm and/or 12pm-4pm
Age Group: Key Stage 1-4
Provision: SEN/ SEND/ SEMH/ Behavioural/ Medical
As an outreach youth worker, you will be responsible for offering a range of support to Primary/ Secondary students, from a few hours to multiple sessions per week, during school hours.
We are seeking individuals who share our passion for making a difference in the lives of young people by building a rapport with the young people to gain a good perspective of their day-today experience and support them engaging in positive activities.You will be required to take the young person out into the community, build on their self- confidence, self - esteem, supporting with life and social skills. Support to reintegrate them back into an education setting.
Provision is usually held at residential or within a community venue subjecting on the needs of the young person. Engaging successfully with challenging young people, for example children who have complex needs, are reluctant to discuss their needs, and are unable to regulate and process their feelings.
To be eligible for this exciting opportunity we require the following:
- Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour/ complex needs.
- Have a good understanding of managing/mentoring young people.
- Minimum 2 years' experience
- Enhanced DBS on the update system or willing to apply for a new DBS if required.
- Hold right to work in the UK.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Safeguarding Policy
