Your role and responsibilities
  • working within the Green Access team across Suffolk you will create partnerships and engage in collaborate working to promote Suffolk’s green access network in line with the council's ‘Suffolk Green Access Strategy 2020-2030’
  • responsible for the council’s Discover Suffolk website, outdoor App, the Suffolk Walking Festival website, and all associated social media and traditional media content and engagement
  • devise and deliver innovative projects in partnership with other organisations and community groups to promote the green access network
  • work with colleagues, organisations and communities to form partnerships to promote new trails including the King Charles III England Coast Path, and new green access projects funded by the development of Sizewell C
  • work within a legal framework of public rights of way and effectively communicate this to others
  • effectively manage your own time and work streams and maintain datasets to monitor performance
  • act as a champion for the green access network in all areas of your work and in communication with colleagues, communities, parish councils, councillors and other key stakeholders.
You will need
  • degree/HND or similar level qualification or equivalent experience
  • experience of managing your own caseload within a team environment
  • excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills with strong verbal and written skills
  • experience of working with the media and managing website and social media content
  • strong organisational and project management skills, able to prioritise and manage a varied workload with competing projects and demands.

The team
The Green Access Team sits within the Rights of Way and Access team and has the specific task of developing and promoting the green access network across Suffolk. The Rights of Way and Access team is part of the Natural and Historic Environment Service.
We are a friendly, professional and highly motivated team looking after Suffolk’s Rights of Way and access network with a passion for Suffolk’s natural environment and green access network. That network includes 5,700km of public rights of way, open access and informal routes.
Suffolk County Council’s ‘Suffolk Green Access Strategy 2020-2030’ covers the team’s main priorities with the vision “to get more people using and enjoying Suffolk’s green access network.”
