Consultant in Gynaecology Review

The role on offer is for a 7.5 PA per week (5.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA) contract for 12 months. This may require extension in line with the timeframe of the review. Timings of these sessions will be agreed with the successful applicant and where possibly the timings will link with the Gynaecology review team to support MDT working and patient interviews.
The post holder will be required to be on site. Provision of clinical expertise and experience to support the Gynaecology Review team. This will include: 1. Review of paper and electronic notes for patients involved in the Gynaecology Review 2.
Writing letters to patients involved in the Review, explaining the outcome of the External or Internal Review of their personal care, and offering a personal interview. 3. Interviewing patients (with the Project Lead) via telephone, Microsoft Teams or in person.
The aim of these interviews is to explain the outcome of the Review of their treatment and care, to hear the patients reflections on their treatment, to apologise where appropriate, to offer clinical advice and arrange any appropriate follow up if required.
4. Write follow-up letter to patients detailing their interview. 5. Arranging follow up by clinicians (Consultant, GP, radiology, physiotherapy etc.) where appropriate. 6. Presenting to the Review Panel, including the patients clinical details, the outcome of the External Review and any additional information from their personal interviews.
7. Recognition and dissemination of themes related to specifics from the note review/ interviews. 8. Liaising with author(s) of reports relevant to the review findings. 9. Presenting (with Project Lead) updates to the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
10. Liaison with Risk and Clinical Audit to support implementation of the actions required to support the review findings. 11. Commitment to taking part in annual appraisal process which will be undertaken by the Divisional Review Clinician. 12. Responsible for compliance with personal continuing professional development requirements with the support of the Trust.
It is mandatory for all Consultants to keep up to date with evidence-based practise. 13. Responsible for maintaining awareness of & acting in accordance with professional guidelines such as "Duties of a Doctor", "Good Medical Practice", & the "GMC Performance Procedures".
You will be responsible for the supportive care and referral to specialist services of women in the review as agreed in your job plan. You will take an active role in Clinical Governance, lead and participate in audit projects relevant to the review and promote research and academic activity within the specialty to help ensure our services are continuously being improved.

It is essential for applicants to be on the GMC Specialist Register.
