SEU Triage Ward Clerk
Use tact, diplomacy, understanding and compassion when communicating with patients and visitors who may be distressed To answer telephone calls from referring doctors regarding the admission or transfer of patients to the SEU and ensuring this is communicated effectively to the on-take clinical team Collect personal and confidential information from patients or relatives in order to complete the admissions process.
Data may be collected at the SEU Triage reception area or directly from seriously ill patients who have been taken directly to a trolley or bed within the unit. To accurately record and input information into the Trusts EPR system in a timely manner To collect and accurately input information into the SEU database To complete the admissions process within SEU Triage, printing labels and wristbands for all patients Scan patient documentation into correct patient records in EPR in accordance with Trust guidelines To ensure the tracking and requesting of medical notes for SEU patients File departmental records and organise the culling of filed notes in accordance with Trust guidelines To ensure that information on overseas patients is entered accurately onto EPR, to ensure appropriate charges are incurred Photocopying and other general office procedures To deal with general enquiries to the unit regarding patients, both internally and from external agencies such as Police, other health care workers and insurance companies ensuring that they are directed to the correct department of the Trust To work as part of the combined SEU team, providing administration cover where necessary at times of peak workload and / or unavoidable absences or shortages of staff as requested by the management team To understand own role and involvement in a Major Incident To contribute to own personal development, through attendance at mandatory training and annual appraisal To participate in the induction and training of new members of staff within the team
