Main duties of the job
This post is for a consultant paediatric orthopaedic surgeon with a sub specialist interest in the care of the child with neuro-disability.
The key focus of this post is paediatric orthopaedic surgery with a sub specialist interest in the care of the child with neuro-disability. This includes clinical care in form of elective and non-elective surgery, regular multi-disciplinary meetings, and audit. The Department offers an on-call service for all in-patients and also for patients in the region requiring specialist anaesthetic care or paediatric intensive care. On call activities include the treatment of all acute paediatric orthopaedic conditions such as infection or fractures in patients with complex trauma if transferred to the Trust’s intensive care unit.
There is no Accident & Emergency department at this hospital. The consultants work closely together and there is opportunity for discussion of patients in the monthly spinal MDT. It is not unusual for consultants to operate together and there is a good working relationship within the department.
It is a full-time appointment at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
