An exciting opportunity has arisen at Withybush General Hospital for Pharmacists with drive and ability to become part of the dynamic Pharmacy Team as part of the pharmacist bank . As bank pharmacists you will work in a supportive environment working within areas of expertise/ competence with the chance to build on your foundation skills and develop your expertise.

We are committed to developing and training our staff and you will join our dynamic clinical pharmacy team providing pharmaceutical care to a number of areas . This includes general medicine, general and orthopaedic surgery, cardiology and admissions.

Withybush General Hospital is a busy district general hospital with approximately 250 beds. It provides a range of medical and surgical specialities including coronary care, acute stroke, trauma and orthopaedics, frailty, critical care and the emergency department.

The clinical pharmacy service is well established and provides high quality care across all specialities.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a team of experienced Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians and you will be expected to work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver a patient focused clinical pharmacy service in all areas.

You will be working as a key member of the pharmacy team providing a clinical service to a number of areas on depending on experience and expertise.

You will have the opportunity to develop your practice in a wide range of clinical areas in a small and friendly general hospital.

You will be expected to undertake the role of responsible pharmacist when working as part of the dispensary team.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest.

Five community hospitals: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.

Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion).

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Person specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Masters degree in pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent experience or qualifications
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Professional knowledge of medicines managements systems and process in an integrated NHS
  • Experience of teaching & supervision of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and students
  • Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience or qualifications
  • Knowledge of specialist area as described in job advert
Desirable criteria
  • Accredited Pre-registration Tutor
  • Accredited Diploma Pharmacy Tutor
  • Independent Prescriber

Other

Essential criteria
  • Flexibility to undertake emergency duty including weekends, Bank Holiday and evening opening
  • Have a flexible approach
  • Travel between sites and outside organization
  • Understands and shows commitment to continuing professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed knowledge and experience of health care
  • Demonstrate achievement in at least one area of specialist medicines management
