Department: PathologyBand: 5 - £32,073 - £39,043 Per annum, pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and organised individual to join the Pathology team as Pathology Quality and Safety Officer. Milton Keynes University Hospital is accredited to ISO 15189:2022.The post holder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a high quality, safe, and compliant pathology service, ensuring compliance with ISO 15189:2022 and wider regulatory frameworks. The post holder will collaborate with Blood Sciences, Microbiology, Cellular Pathology, Point of Care Testing and the Mortuary.
Working closely with the Pathology Quality Manager and broader laboratory management team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS), support audit and governance processes, training and quality improvement initiatives across all pathology disciplines.

Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Pathology QMS
Support quality improvement projects across departments
Coordinate audits, monitor compliance, and track actions to completion

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria- Good general education including minimum of 5 GCSE, including English and Maths (Grade A to C) or equivalent.
- The equivalent of NVQ level 3 or an approved Foundation Degree in a relevant subject
- Knowledge of the principles of accreditation, compliance and governance
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in the Laboratory
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in the Laboratory
Experience
Essential criteria- Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment, ideally within a pathology laboratory or other regulated environment
- Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment, ideally within a pathology laboratory or other regulated environment
- Previous experience of working with laboratory / Quality Management software
- Previous Audit experience
- Experience with supporting and leading quality improvement projects
- Experience with UKAS accreditation assessments
