Food Technician Teacher

Contract: Full-time (term-time only)

Your role will encompass both the practical aspects of cooking and the theoretical knowledge of food science, nutrition, and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging food technology lessons that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Instruct students in culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
• Teach fundamental food safety and hygiene practices.
• Encourage students to explore various cuisines and dietary considerations.
• Promote an understanding of the nutritional value of foods and the importance of a balanced diet.
• Supervise and assist students in practical cooking sessions and experiments.
• Assess and evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and explore their passion for food.
• Participate in curriculum development, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support the school's mission and educational goals.
• Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the food technology classroom and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Culinary Arts, Education, or a related field.
• Teaching certification and/or experience in education is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of food science, culinary techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enthusiasm for teaching and the ability to inspire students' curiosity about food.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
• A commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning atmosphere.
• Passion for staying current with trends in food technology and culinary education.
