An exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse/Prescriber to join our newly formed Child Development Team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The successful candidate will have skills and knowledge in the assessment of children and young people supporting a diagnostic framework.

In addition they will have experience of working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality interventions and expert nursing care, advice and support to children, young people and their families.

You must be an NMC Registered Nurse, an Independent Nurse Prescriber (or willing to work towards) and possess a sound knowledge of child and adolescent development. You will work alongside a range of professionals and a key part of the role will be to undertake the management of pharmacological interventions as a nurse prescriber.

You will be expected to manage your caseload effectively in order to improve the experience for the child/young person and family.

You will be supported with training opportunities to ensure high quality interventions, individual development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working as part of an effective team, providing flexible and comprehensive assessments, treatment. This includes medication management and autonomous prescribing within both the hospital and variety of local community settings across North Derbyshire.

The post holder will be working autonomously to carry out specialist assessment of children and young people referred with potential neurodevelopmental disorders.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RMN/RSCN and experience/Post registration qualification
  • Nurse Prescribing course (or willing to work towards)
  • ADHD/ASD assessment training (or willing to attend further training)
Desirable criteria
  • BA Hons Community Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Specific ASD or ADHD training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant proven experience working within paediatrics and experience in prescribing
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within clinic or a community environment
  • Experience of managing a complex caseload.
  • Experience in working with CAMHS or Community Paediatricians Teaching and mentorship
  • Experience of working with children and young people diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Experience of carrying out audits
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of ASD/ADHD assessments.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to relate to, communicate with and engage with children and young people
  • Ability to function autonomously and as a team member
  • Ability to work flexibly across nominated caseload.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and time management
