The post holder will work as part of the East of England Cancer Alliances Informatics Team and will be responsible for producing top quality outputs from existing and new data sources in the form of datasets, reports, informatic packs, dashboards and presentations including designing, development and implementation of Power BI dashboards.
In addition, the post holder will maintain up to date datasets within SQL and produce bespoke datasets and reports in response to ad hoc requests received. Key duties and responsibilities include: Communication and relationships Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders on a range of cancer-related topics, including responding to emails and data requests and presenting work at meetings.
Create and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders and the wider Cancer Alliance team. Maintain the teams key data-related contact lists. Analytics and Data Management Apply knowledge in data analytics to cancer datasets to support on the production of key insights in the form of informatics packs, Excel and Power BI dashboards and visualisations to improve our understanding of cancer pathways and outcomes.
Create signposting resources to support stakeholders with access to a wide range of cancer data and information sources, and advise on availability, interpretation and accessibility where appropriate. Apply existing best practice statistical and modelling solutions, related to projects involving early stage diagnosis, cancer waiting times, radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, patient experience and survival outcomes.
Set up a SQL code library and centralised repository of Standard Operational Procedures and methods, to support the team in the management and manipulation of key datasets. Prepare, engineer, cleanse and quality assure cancer-related data and be able to ask for help when needed.
Support with ad hoc enquiries received from a range of stakeholders, using new or existing cancer datasets to provide a response, including producing bespoke datasets and reports where required. Planning and Organisation Use project management and prioritisation skills to effectively manage competing tasks and a varied workload to support the Informatics Team.
Contribute to the planning of team projects within the work programme, including cancer epidemiology, quality improvement and forecasting, including considering interdependencies and collaborating with partners to align work. Policy and Service Development Develop templates for data collections, policies to improve data quality and processes for internal quality assurance and methodologies related to cancer data analysis, with an impact on the wider organisation.

Co-author and update Standard Operational Procedures to ensure resilience across the team. Other tasks may be required, based on business need.
