GP OOH Support Technician
Job overview
Harrogate GP Out of Hours provide an urgent primary care service when GP surgeries are closed, open weekday evenings from 18.00-08.00 and weekends and bank holidays 24 hours.
The Support Technician role supports the service undertaking admin, booking in patients, driving GPs, maintaining and checking equipment and stock in line with Trust policy.
Shift pattern required
1730-2300 (Mon-Fri)2245-0815 (Mon-Fri)
1945-0815 (Sat- Sun)
Main duties of the job- To use SystmOne to book patients in, ensuring data entry to accurate.
- To use the computer systems to respond to general enquiries from patients and Health Care Professionals
- To ensure that all property belonging to the Trust is looked after safely and securely.
- To assist clinical staff in their duties as necessary, including setting up or use of medical equipment (setting up and administering oxygen, setting up nebuliser, using defibrillator) and handling prescription medications as requested.
- To safely drive and operate the GP OOHs vehicle conveying clinical staff as required.
- To clean up bodily fluids, as required, using appropriate spillage kit e.g. when a patient has vomited.
- To chaperone for clinician’s as required.

Experience
Essential criteria- • Experience of working with members of the public/customer care environment
- • Experience of driving in all weather conditions
- • Ability to remain flexible within a rota system including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- • Computer literate - Microsoft office & confident learning in-house systems
- • Good knowledge of the appropriate geographical area
- • Experience of driving a company vehicle on behalf of the employer
- • Ability to assist doctors in their duties, including knowledge of relevant medical equipment
