Main duties of the job
To manage the provision and maintenance of NHS Estates buildings, electrical plant equipment and services to ensure a safe and suitable environment for the care of patients, visitors and staff.
Provide technical and specialist advice to managers and staff in electrical systems and disciplines.
To specify and manage all electrical systems contracts across multiple sites.
Travel between Trust sites as required.
To provide evidence based efficient, cost effective and robust electrical engineering contracts to ensure full compliance with statutory instruments, NHSE guidance and industry best practice.
To ensure all Hospital electrical engineering systems are maintained in a safe condition and are fit for purpose.

Person specification- EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
- Must have a good standard of general education plus additional knowledge attained via a recognised and relevant diploma level (at HNC/HND level) in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Construction related discipline or approved equivalent training
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent plus specialist knowledge acquired through relevant post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level
- Completion of a structured training program in engineering discipline for a minimum period of five years
- Full Current Driving Licence
- Degree in Building Services/Mechanical Engineering/Construction related discipline or equivalent experience
- EXPERIENCE
- Experience of managing engineering building services, operational engineering maintenance and repair services
- Experience and knowledge of operational budget management
- managing Experience of contractors
- Extensive knowledge and experience of working with engineering systems within complex organisations and environments
- Experience of working within and developing a ‘safe system of work’ and dealing with health and safety issues
- Line management experience.
- Experience in specifying and managing engineering contracts
- Experience of Estates Management/Project Management including the concurrent management of multiple projects and services
- SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstratable knowledge and approach to maintenance management and methodologies a structured, analytical, and best practice approach to maintenance management
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal to a wide range of individuals and groups at all levels internally and externally
- Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs, BMS and CAFM systems.
- Able to analyse data and produce reports using a range of software packages
- Demonstrable record of accomplishment of working effectively within and through multi-disciplinary teams
- Works independently and exercises a high degree of professional judgement
- Knowledge of HTM’s, HBN’s and Estates specific legislation
- Good knowledge of energy efficient working practices within building services engineering
