We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to fill the interim position of Cemetery & Grounds Team Leader. This role is crucial in overseeing the maintenance and administration of our cemetery grounds, ensuring that they remain a respectful and serene environment for families and visitors.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for maintaining natural spaces. As the Cemetery & Grounds Team Leader, you will manage a small team responsible for landscaping, groundskeeping, and cemetery maintenance, while also liaising with bereaved families and the community to provide compassionate support.
This interim role offers the opportunity to lead a committed team in preserving the beauty and integrity of our cemetery, while also working closely with management to implement best practices in ground care and customer service. Your leadership will directly impact the atmosphere of the grounds, fostering a peaceful environment for reflection and remembrance while ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the cemetery and grounds maintenance team.
Ensure the cemetery grounds are maintained to a high standard, including landscaping, mowing, and planting.
Manage the scheduling of maintenance tasks and team assignments to optimize productivity and efficiency.
Interact with bereaved families to provide assistance and information regarding cemetery policies and procedures.
Oversee and participate in the setup and takedown for services, memorials, and events as needed.
Maintain inventory of tools and supplies, ensuring equipment is in good working condition and properly stored.

Collaborate with management to develop and implement policies for the care of cemetery grounds and facilities.

Requirements
Proven experience in landscape management or groundskeeping, with supervisory experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a small team effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact compassionately with families and the public.
Knowledge of horticulture, landscape maintenance practices, and cemetery operations.
Basic mechanical skills for maintaining equipment and tools used in groundskeeping.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical labor as needed.

Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Hours Per Week: 37.00

Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:30
Pay Per Hour: £20.00

Location: Plymouth, South West England
