An opportunity has arisen to join our hard working, friendly and progressive non-obstetric team at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, initiative-taking, well organised sonographer with ability to work autonomously to join our busy unit.

We are looking for suitable candidate to most support with vascular service at KGH but be able to perform general ultrasound is preferable. The candidate should be SVT Accredited and competent in conducting clinical examinations and playing a key role in the management of patients with vascular disease.

You will perform and independently report on a wide range of vascular ultrasound examinations including upper and lower limb arterial and venous scans, carotid and aorta including EVAR scans and arterio-venous fistulas.

You must be highly competent and keen to contribute towards efficient service delivery and excellent patient care.

You must hold a UK recognised Pg. Diploma or Pg. Certificate in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent and state registration with HCPC or other recognised body is essential.

  • To always provide a commitment to the highest quality patient care and to actively
participate in programmes to develop excellent standards of patient care.
  • To be responsible for the strategic organisation and provision of the Ultrasound service, working with the management team, ensuring advice and leadership on evidence-based changes to practice.
  • Provide specialist advice pertaining to ultrasound service.
  • Responsible for training and supervision of all staff within the ultrasound unit.
  • Deputise to Lead Sonographer when required.
  • To be receptive to new ways of working to ensure that the ultrasound department continues to remain resilient and flexible to changing service pressures and needs.
  • To be conversant with national changes in diagnostics service delivery.
  • To be open, positive, and flexible in considering implementation of changes which align with national priorities.
  • To maintain a high standard of clinical governance by taking an active role in audit, peer review and QA programmes.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC registered or equivalent
  • Experience in Ultrasound and independent reporting
  • Ability to successfully manage people and change
  • Expert knowledge of Ultrasound
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to support, inspire and supervise staff development
  • Able to prioritise and meet deadlines effectively
  • Analyses problems and implements effective and appropriate solutions
  • Able to convey accurate information to patients and colleagues ensuring comprehension of complex data
  • Complete documentation accurately and collate data for meetings
Desirable criteria
  • Post Graduate Qualification in MSK Ultrasound

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16.

New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.

Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
