This important role is based within the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research Group (YQSR).
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic proactive Business Manager to support the smooth running and continued growth of our dynamic Research Group https://yqsr.org. Your role will be to provide comprehensive, efficient and responsive office management and administrative functions to the Director and Senior management team within the Group.You will provide support across the Group including, but not limited to, the Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Research Collaboration (PSRC), the Applied Research Collaboration, and the Policy Research Unit.
You will join a caring and motivated team that is committed to delivering inclusive research to inform improvements in the quality and experience of healthcare services. Previous experience of working in a large and busy research team is essential.

Main duties of the job
Among other things, you will:
- Take a lead role in monitoring business activities and resources, working with the Senior Management Team to support the continued performance and growth of the Group.
- Identify areas for efficiency improvement and develop and implement systems to support sustained change.
- Support funding submissions and co-ordinate annual reporting and meeting schedules
- Line manage the research support officer.
- Support a host of administrative functions to the team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- Take a lead role in monitoring business activities and resources, pre-empting future opportunities and challenges, and identifying solutions to present as regular reports to the Senior Management Team and wider team to support the continued performance and growth of the Group.
- Develop and manage a system to source, monitor and evaluate usage of external agencies and businesses to ensure both the smooth running of programmes and value for money.
- Work with Procurement to troubleshoot and manage invoice payments.
- Work with the Finance team to track budgets ensuring correct allocation of codes to support resource planning year on year.
- Work with the PSRC Career Development senior leads to support implementation and annual review of the Career Development Strategy.
- Support senior research leads with the preparation and submission of funding. applications, specifically leading on setting up the costing for applications.
- Support the co-ordination and preparation of annual reports and activity reports to funders and online tracking platforms.
- Work with the Community Involvement and Inclusion Lead and the lay leaders to support delivery of our patient and public involvement and inclusion strategy.
- To work across the team distilling complex information into high quality accessible formats to support plans to reduced safety inequities among communities.
- Proactive planning, organisation and full administrative support to a broad range of meetings, including booking venues, arranging catering, preparing agendas, minutes and meeting follow up.
- To co-ordinate support for all executive and advisory board meetings within the PSRC and YQSR.
- Plan and book travel and accommodation arrangements ensuring the most effective use of time and money and processing claims for expenses.
- Organise workshops and events on behalf of the YQSR Group including venue selection, catering, presentation equipment, liaison with presenters, drafting programmes and on the day, event management.
- Assist the Director and senior management team with the management of the e-roster system which includes the reporting of staff sickness, annual leave and the finalisation of timesheets.
- Assist the Director and senior management team with the HR processes such as the recruitment and induction of new staff and monitoring of annual appraisals
- Take responsibility, across all studies, for liaising with study leads to ensure the correct processes are adhered to for local study set up, monitoring and close.
- Maintain the YQSR shared electronic files in a logical and organised manner
- Provide human resources support to the YQSR team.
- Other ad-hoc duties as required by the YQSR Group.
- Undertake the appraisal and objective setting for the research administrator and monitor mandatory training to ensure compliance.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to or working towards degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Willingness to undertake training and development as identified through the PDP process
- Management qualification or post graduate diploma*
Experience
Essential criteria- At least 3 years’ experience in an applied public health or health services research support environment
- Experience of supporting the development and delivery of complex research projects
- Experience of budget planning and resource monitoring
- Experience of multi disciplinary team working across health and non health organisations
- Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, partners and community organisations
- Experience of forward business planning and collating, monitoring and reporting performance to senior team
- Experience of providing secretariat support at senior board level
- Line management / staff supervision experience
- Experience of using national and local systems (e.g. Researchfish, Edge, E-Roster)
- Experience of development and delivery of research programme communications including website maintenance and social media accounts
- Experience of preparing for and facilitating large events
