About The Role

Carrying out a multiskilled role including various housekeeping and cleaning duties as well as patient catering.

You will be working alongside a friendly, hardworking team as a facilities assistant in a dynamic, working environment. Your job will be to keep a busy hospital clean through numerous house-keeping tasks, in order to keep clients, customers and staff safe and present the client building in a professional manner by keeping it clean to the NHS National Standards of Cleanliness 2021.

You will be responsible for patient catering with three meal services per day and beverage rounds using an electronic meal ordering system via a tablet and responsible for the serving and delivery of those meals to ensure patients are fed a balanced and nutritious diet.

All relevant training and qualifications will be provided by OCS during your working hours to include IMPACT cleaning training which provides the knowledge and processes of healthcare cleaning and gather understanding of the 2021 standards under which OCS deliver across the ESNEFT Estate.

You will be provided the training and expectation of completing your level 2 food safety qualification alongside the FSA Allergen Online awareness training module. The aforementioned training will be delivered through the Induction programme and within a 12 week probationary period.

You will be working 5 days over 7 (Resilience IA Variation), 16:00 to 00:00, 37.5 hours per week on a fixed term contract, full-time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Undertake a range of housekeeping and cleaning tasks in the hospital, including the cleaning of infected areas and equipment.
Assisting with food preparation / probing food for temperature / completing due diligence paperwork
Plating and dispensing food and beverages on the ward to patients
Replacing / refilling of water jugs
Assist with collection and washing up of cutlery, crockery and trays
Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and ready for the next shift
Ordering stock and filling up
Report broken equipment to supervisor

Carry out any reasonable instruction as directed by your General Manager or Regional Manager

Critical Performance Measures (CPMs) / Objectives:

Assist the Domestic and Catering working alongside the Senior Supervisors in the smooth running of the operations on sites.
Proactive approach to staff engagement and accountability in the compliancy and quality assurance of all domestic and catering policies, procedures, audits and standards.
Prompt response and resolutions to management requests.
Maintain all H&S reporting within AIRES to provide a true representation of safety culture and incident monitoring on site.
Ensure OCS meet with all trust contractual obligations

Demonstration of OCS subordinate management engagement and effective leadership.

Be flexible to meet with the needs of the business and complete all reasonable requests and tasks

Support HR and T&C in the monitoring, organisation and delivery of training within the Domestic and Catering Supervisory Team and operatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. 1 Educational Level
  • Good standard of general education
  • Ability to speak to all personnel irrespective of grade and communicate in fluent English.
  1. 2 Professional Qualifications required for the job-(particularly for compliance purposes or technical requirements of the role)
  • BICS Cleaning Qualification
  • Food Safety Level 2
  • FSA Allergen Training
  1. 3 Experience -previous experience -desirable/essential for technical competence of the role
  • Specialist knowledge within retail or catering with a clear understanding and focus on Customer Service.
  • Professional Cleaning. Ideally in a healthcare setting with knowledge of the 2017 or 2021 NHS Cleaning standards.
  1. 4 Personal Characteristics/Attributes
  • Excellent communication skills, of both written and verbal English.
  • To be smartly presented and be polite at all times.
  • Ability to communicate with staff at all levels and patients.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be flexible to ward demands.
  • Initiative and interpersonal skills to interact with Senior clinical teams who may give direction on occasion
