Responsibilities:

About the Role:

As the Consultant Psychiatrist, you’ll act as the Clinical Lead for the Norfolk service, providing expert leadership and guidance across the team. You’ll play a key role in developing treatment pathways, overseeing clinical practice, and ensuring that high professional standards are maintained.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing substance use and mental health challenges.
  • Leading on the development and implementation of clinical strategies, in partnership with local services, including GPs, mental health teams, and community organisations.
  • Offering specialist advice on complex cases and supporting staff with clinical supervision and guidance.
  • Ensuring safe and effective prescribing practices in line with national guidelines.
  • Engaging in clinical governance activities, including audits, service evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Representing CGL at local and regional meetings to support service development.

About You

We are looking for a qualified Consultant Psychiatrist who is passionate about making a difference in addiction services and thrives in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Essential:

  • Full GMC registration and on the Specialist Register with a Substance Misuse Psychiatry endorsement.
  • Demonstrable experience working with individuals affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health needs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to support and develop clinical teams.
  • Excellent communication and partnership working skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and clinical governance.

Desirable:

  • Experience in teaching, supervision, or clinical research.
  • Section 12 approval or equivalent.
