Staff Nurse - Orrell Ward | Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking to recruit Band 5 Staff Nurse's on Orrell Ward. Orrell Ward cares for a wide range of surgical specialties including: Colorectal, ENT, urology and a number of other elective and emergency specialties.
We are recruiting to a 37.5 hour per week and the role involves working across a 7 day pattern including days and nights. The ward is fast paced and an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to develop their skills and experience within the surgical directorate.
Candidates will be required to present original certificates for qualifications at interview stage.
Please note NMC registration is a requirement of this role.
The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.
Under the supervision of the ward manager the nurse is responsible for the provision, organisation and direction of nursing care of the patients in his/her care. To communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and high quality care is provided to all patients.

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.- To provide the highest standards of care to our patients.

- To be sensitive to the needs of patients in relation to courtesy, privacy and dignity.
- To be familiar and adhere to Trust and Divisional objectives, policies, guidelines and current legislation
- To complete patient documentation and undertake record keeping in a timely manner, ensuring that all entries are accurate and legible and that information systems are maintained.
- To provide information as required, including notification of adverse events and accidents to patients, staff and visitors.
- In conjunction with senior nursing staff and specialist nurses participate in the setting/monitoring and evaluation of standards of care to patients.
- To communicate effectively with all members of multi-disciplinary team regarding patient
- To assist with the investigation and timely resolution of complaints and PALS enquiries
