This is an exciting opportunity to join the Stroke and Neurology Occupational Therapy service at Treliske Hospital, in a new role supporting our Therapy Team on Tintagel ward, which specialises in the care of Neurology, Eldercare and Medical patients.You will work alongside our Neurology OT and OT Technician, together with the MDT, to deliver rehabilitation and discharge planning for this co-hort of patients.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of Occupational Therapy to patients admitted to Tintagel ward.
To provide Specialist assessment, treatment and goal setting with these patients. Some patients may have complex and or chronic presentations. To determine clinical diagnosis and Occupational Therapy treatment indicated.
To maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
To develop highly specialist skills under the guidance of the Senior staff.
To attend clinical level discussions/meetings related to your area of work as delegated by the Clinical team Lead.

Person specification
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Evidence of recent learning and education in subjects relevant to area of practice.
- Training in wheelchair assessment/prescription.
- Student placement educators training.
- Membership of relevant professional body
- Member of relevant Special Interest Group
- Bobath or other theory in therapeutic treatment of motor- neuron dysfunction
Experience
Essential criteria- Comprehensive experience post-qualification Eg rotations in acute neurology/ stroke, eldercare, medicine.
- Experience of delivering early rehab to acute patients.
- Experience of working with palliative patients.
- Experience of working with people whose behaviours challenge service delivery.
- Experience of MDT working.
- Experience in the education of Occupational Therapy students on clinical placement and supervision of junior/support staff.
- Experience of working under pressure
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous Band 6 experience or equivalent levels of responsibility
- Experience of splinting, collars, helmets and bracing.
- Experience of postural management. Understanding relevant pathways and policies for neurological patients and eldercare patients within RCHT and community services
