Main duties of the job
Cardiac Theatres at UHS is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a senior cardiac theatre practitioner position. Our facility comprises five operating theatres, providing Adult, Congenital and Paediatric cardiac services. As a centre of excellence in South of England region, we deliver high-quality care for both elective and emergency procedures.
As the Senior Cardiac Theatre Practitioner, you will:
- Be the clinical expert in both Adult and Paediatric Cardiac Surgery.
- Uphold and elevate the standards of patient care within our cardiac theatres, ensuring every patient receives
- Lead and empower your team: Lead and inspire a diverse team of healthcare professionals, fostering a

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Your roles and responsibilities:Lead and inspire: Foster a culture of continuous development by leading inter-professional teams in developing knowledge, ideas, and innovative work practices.
Clinical expertise and patient care: Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate personalized, patient-centred care, while acting as a clinical expert and mentor to colleagues.
Drive quality and safety: Lead on standard setting, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice and Trust policies.
Resource management and service improvement: Coordinate resources to ensure safe and efficient patient care, actively identify and implement service improvements.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria- Registered Nurse or Registered ODP
- Experience as a Theatre Practitioner in an acute theatre unit
- Awareness of professional regulations in the NHS Leadership
- Experience Clinical scrub skills – generic and speciality-specific
- Provide evidence of supporting / managing a range of learners in practice
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
- Good communication skills with ability to provide complex information in intense setting
- Foundation Management Course or equivalent
- Leadership training / qualification
- Clinical management experience
- Experience in implementing change
- Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
