National Express are looking to recruit a Operations Supervisor to join the team at our Aston Depot. The successful candidate will be the friendly, helpful and professional face of the Company to all driving staff, to supervise and manage them and to meet Service Delivery requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Supervise, assist and coach the driving staff population on a day to day basis including welcoming them to work, advising them of urgent information they need to know, checking on their fitness to commence work and other such tasks. This should all be carried out in a friendly, engaging and professional manner
  • Effectively manage breakdowns and incidents that could potentially cause lost mileage and / or customer dissatisfaction. Stepping up vehicles at locations to minimise any disruption. Communicating with contractors (i.e Action Volvo) ensuring the correct contract engineers are sent out to each breakdown
  • Be able to liaise and communicate effectively with customers both internal and external
  • Allocate the correct vehicles (registration numbers) prior to service starting in the relevant tracking systems (U-Track)
  • Monitor, when required, the quality of service delivery including conducting pre service quality checks (gate checks) and to ensure that appropriate action is taken to rectify any problems. To manage the dispatch and return of service for both network services and private hire jobs
  • Support the Operations Planners in the allocation of work to drivers in an efficient manner and working within Company and local agreements. This will include ensuring compliance with Company and legislative regulations and ensuring that all work is covered
  • Operate and update the applicable systems such as Grampian, DAS and Tru Tac. To monitor and control the drivers holiday bookings and change duty systems
  • Record driver’s absence and sickness, so this can then be forwarded to line management
  • Operate and maintain computer and paperwork systems, ensuring accurate input and output of data and to the defined timescales
  • Be able to demonstrate flexibility in line with operational requirements, including undertaking driving duties. To be able to document any predictable and unpredictable delays in service and liaise with Network Control Centre regarding emergency diversions as required
  • Communicate effectively with Network Control Centre to ensure service reliability and punctuality is managed and to report any issues with vehicle availability and Driver issues on a day to day basis. This includes conducting a proper handover before or after your shift to the colleague you are handing over to / taking over from

What you'll need:

  • ILM awards Level 2 and or 3 is beneficial
  • Level 2 NVQ Passenger Transport Operations
  • Basic CLAIT, Excel, Word
  • Experience in EU & Domestic Hours, plus competence in relevant systems (Grampian, EP Morris, Merit etc)
  • PCV Licence is required as there will be driving involved in this role
  • First Aid trained
  • Working knowledge of the coach and highway network in the relevant geographical area
  • IOSH trained and Fire Warden trained
