Position: Outreach Support Worker (Children)

Hours: Full-time / Part-time (flexible hours)

Role

As an Outreach Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable children and young people within the community. You will work with children facing challenges such as family issues, mental health concerns, school difficulties, or social isolation.

Your primary focus will be to provide guidance, support, and advocacy, helping these children access essential services and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support for children and young people during outreach activities.
  • Work within community settings, schools, and other locations to help children access education, healthcare, and vital services.
  • Offer emotional support, guidance, and positive role modelling.
  • Develop and implement personalised support plans based on each child's individual needs.
  • Collaborate with families, social workers, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Advocate on behalf of children to ensure they receive the appropriate care and protection.
  • Maintain accurate records to track progress and outcomes.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children and young people in a support, care, or outreach role (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when engaging with young people.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to work with children facing a range of challenges.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and local resources available for children in Plymouth
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
