An exciting opportunity is available within the Radiotherapy Physics Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for an experienced, forward-thinking Band 7 Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist) to join our friendly Medical Physics Team. We offer a contemporary Radiotherapy Service and have recently implemented a number of key service improvements including AI auto-contouring and surface-guided radiotherapy.
We are currently building a fourth bunker and expect to install a new machine early in 2025. We are aiming to upgrade both our patient management system and treatment planning system in 2025 with various initiatives to improve both the efficiency and quality of our processes and treatments.

We have a growing SABR program and are committed to improving the access to these techniques for our patients.

As part of the Dosimetrist team you will be responsible for the production of routine and highly-complex radiotherapy treatment plans covering VMAT and SABR. You will be expected to undertake complex techniques and play a key role in future developments, including quality/service and process improvement initiatives.

You will also, at times, have delegated responsibility for all technical aspects of treatment planning and mould room, including line management of clinical technologists employed in a Dosimetrist capacity. Please see the job description for more information.

Join us at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, where our passion for excellence drives everything we do.

We're on a mission to provide high quality, safe care to our patients, in an environment our incredible staff are proud to work in.

The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is a fully-networked Varian department with three TrueBeam linear accelerators all equipped with OBI, RapidArc and respiratory gating. We have recently implemented SGRT with AlignRT and have Varian Perfect Pitch 6DOF couch on some of our machines.

We have a Canon Exceed Large Bore CT scanner with Varian RGSC and use the Eclipse TPS (v15.6). We use the Limbus AI auto-contouring tool and perform secondary dose calculations using RadCalc.
