An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated and passionate Team Manager to join the Salford Mental Health Liaison Team (SMHLT).
The SMHLT, based in Salford Royal Hospital, is a PLAN accredited Liaison Service offering a comprehensive range of mental health specialties within one multi-disciplinary team so that all patients, regardless of age, with a suspected or actual mental health problem can be assessed, treated, signposted, or referred appropriately regardless of age, presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity.
The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of the service ensuring safe, high quality care delivery in-line with the agreed service KPIs. They will manage day-to-day operational tasks within the team, such as providing line management supervision and HR-related tasks, and demonstrate strong leadership skills, with a focus on staff development and well-being.
Main duties of the job
Oversee the management of the workload of the Mental Health Liaison Team, ensuring that appropriate systems are in place for:
- - Assessment within the Emergency Department (ED), hospital wards and Section 136 Suite.
- - Allocation, transfer and discharge/closure of case responsibility, ensuring transitions in and out of the team is safely managed.
- Development of robust care planning to ensure service users, carers and staff are adequately supported
To ensure that service users referred receive appropriate mental health care whilst attending ED or being admitted to the general hospital and, where possible, reduce hospital lengths of stay.
Promote a learning environment and support the professional development and effectiveness of the team as a whole.
Undertake responsibility for the maintenance of good standards of professional practice.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Qualified professional (RMN/Social Worker/OT) with current registration with relevant professional body E.g., NMC, SWE, HCPC
- Leadership/Management training
- AMHP status
Experience
Essential criteria- Significant post qualifying clinical experience of working within Mental Health
- Management and supervision of staff.
- Positive leadership of a team
- Effective team working within a multi-agency framework
Knowledge
Essential criteria- A knowledge of the Mental Health Liaison Team Model of intervention and its effectiveness
- Sound knowledge of the factors involved in the development of mental illness and key features of relapse prevention
- Knowledge of suicide prevention and effective risk management
- A knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
- Knowledge of service monitoring and evaluation
- Knowledge of change management
Skills & Abilities
