Join Protective Care Group as a Childrens Residential Support Worker!

At Protective Care Group, we believe in providing tailored support for young people who display challenging behaviour as a result of trauma. We operate on a trauma informed, person centred approach meaning all of our Young People are cared for in solo placements with a close knit team around them.

Your role will involve:

  • Offering empathetic day-to-day support to our young people.
  • Coaching and mentoring them to develop essential life skills.
  • Supporting challenging behaviours with acceptance and resilience.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports in compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborating effectively with key stakeholders in the young person’s life.

Considerations before applying:

  • You will be placed in a team anywhere within the North East of England so flexibility in travel and staying away from home is essential.
  • A full UK manual driving license is a requirement for this role, our young people like to get out and about!
  • We adopt a flexible approach to working as all of our young people are different. Shifts will typically follow a 4 on, 4 off pattern, including both 12 hour day and 12 hour waking night shifts, often your day shifts will be followed by a sleep in.

Requirements

We're looking for individuals who possess the following characteristics:

  • A Level 3 qualification in Child and Residential care (or a suitable alternative)
  • An understanding of trauma and its effects on behaviour.
  • Ability to remain calm and non-judgmental whilst working with behaviours and needs such as absconding, self-harm, sexualised behaviour, attachment disorder, trauma and criminalisation.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Full right to work in the UK and a valid UK manual driving license.

Benefits

The ultimate reward for this job is knowing that you’ve made a difference to a young person’s quality of life and future prospects, but our Support Workers also benefit from:

  • Security - PAYE role, so no need to worry about consistency of shifts and pay
  • Remuneration - competitive basic salary of £32,000 plus uplifts for each shift you work with a young person and for sleeping nights, paid annual leave, company sick pay, company pension
  • Investment in you - training you need to do your role well, including paying for you to complete your NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare if you do not already have it, progression plan and training to help you get to where you want to be
  • Dedicated wellbeing support from management, internal Wellbeing Specialist and free confidential counselling services
  • Active and generous refer a friend scheme
