Personal Assistant (4973)
I am permanently in my wheelchair, which has a motor to make pushing me easier. I am softly spoken and partially deaf, and I am unable to use my hands or arms. However, I have a sharp mind and I am aware of my surroundings.
General duties and responsibilities will include:
- Driving me in my wheelchair adapted vehicle
- Administering medication when out
- Flushing my PEG
- Organising and performing household tasks (washing, ironing etc.)
- Gardening
- Support me to go shopping
- Writing letters
Person specification:
Essential:
- Experience in a similar role
- Experience working in care
- Able to work without supervision
- Medication trained for PEG
- Care certificate
- NVQ level 2 (minimum)
- GCSE or equivalent
- Patient and kind
- Good communication skills
- Good organisational skills
Desirable:
- Manual handling
Summary terms and conditions:
- The rate of pay for this position is £13.00 per hour
- 6.5 hours per week: Tuesday 12:00pm – 4:00pm and Friday 9:30am – 12:00pm
- The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement)
The post is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory enhanced DBS check is required for this position if successful
- Post is subject to a 3-month probation period
- The successful applicant will be required to provide details of two referees, one of which must be their current or most recent employer.
