An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and innovative band 4 Assistant Psychologist with experience of, and a keen interest in mental health, to work within Guildford Community Mental Health Recovery Services based in South-West Surrey.

Working days to be discussed in the interview; should be either all day on a Monday and Tuesday and half a day on Wednesday or Half a day on Wednesday and all day on Thursday and Friday.
Your role would be to to support and enhance the professional psychological care of people who use services by providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist working within the service, and by working independently according to a plan agreed with the team leader and the supervising psychologist.
To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of outcome statistics, and/or other project work as appropriate and agreed with the team leader and supervising psychologist. You would be working with friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary teams who greatly value the skills and expertise of our Assistant Psychologists.

Knowledge of working with high risk, complex mental health difficulties and experience in group therapy work and project work would be desirable.

Applicants must have graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Main duties of the job

To carry out comprehensive assessments, plan implement and evaluate delivery of psychology interventions under the supervision of a psychologist as part of a holistic approach working in a variety of settings.

Involve and work with with people who use services, carers, families and staff in implementing the care plan devised by the psychologist.

To advocate and ensure that there is proper regard for peoples’ dignity, choice, self-esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences and take appropriate and immediate action to keep people safe in a crisis or safeguarding situation, reporting back to a senior colleague in a timely manner.

Work in partnership with people in other health and social care settings and establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, other agencies, people who use services and their families.

To contribute to conducting clinical audit and research, maintaining current knowledge of research findings and development within the relevant field and develop, implement and monitoring of interventions driven by government initiatives.

Contribute to neuropsychological assessments under supervision of qualified practitioner psychologist and develop and provide a range of specialist teaching/training packages which can be delivered to a range of multi-disciplinary audiences.
