Q3 Tipton has high expectations for all students and is one of nine schools in the Mercian Academy Trust. We embed the ethos of the Trust: “To live life to the full in pursuit of that which is good, right and true” and are passionate about social equality within our community.

“Pupils understand expectations and appreciate the positive environment. Teachers treat pupils as individuals, and pupils welcome this. Pupils feel confident to ‘be themselves’ in this inclusive community” (Ofsted, 2022). Following internal promotion, we are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Teacher of English to compliment the established department in the Academy.

We are seeking a self-motivated, supportive, and inspiring teacher who has experience in curriculum planning and delivery of music across Key Stages 3 – 4 (Key Stage 5 is desirable but not necessary). You are an outstanding teacher who is passionate about your subject and able to inspire and motivate students to learn.

Your passion for English is demonstrated in your daily work and you are willing to contribute to wider curriculum opportunity for students to further engage and support them in the subject.

The successful candidate will be joining a well-established and cohesive team of colleagues, with good links across other schools as part of the Mercian Academy Trust, with excellent opportunities for development.

The Academy is looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent subject knowledge in English;
  • A track record of inspiring students in English, enabling them to achieve outstanding results;
  • Inspiring and creative ideas to make English accessible to a range of abilities;
  • The ability to understand and work with assessment data to monitor and intervene as appropriate with students.
  • A background in Level 3 English would be an advantage but not necessary.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching English across Key Stages 3-5;
  • Responsibility for adding value to every learner in each teaching group benchmarked against national criteria and data;
  • Delivering, planning, and preparing lessons in accordance with the planned curriculum;
  • Contribution to curriculum design within English;
  • Working as part of an exceptional team that ensures creative and innovative learning and teaching occurs in every lesson;
  • Being a Form Tutor.

Interview will be held w/c 17th March 2025.

The Mercian Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Pre-employment checks include an enhanced disclosure and barring service check as a requirement of this post.

Our Safeguarding Policy is available on our website, and we encourage applicants to review it before applying.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check (formerly CRB) under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Further details regarding this check are available from the school or by visitingwww.crb.gov.uk.
