As a busy, expanding Maxillofacial and Orthodontic unit, we are looking for a dynamic, well organised, proactive individual who's looking for a challenge.

This position requires a friendly individual who can work within a busy environment and has a ability to problem solve. The department has recently expanded and offers a range of services. The successful applicant will be expected to work as a team but show initiative, they must be able to adapt to a changing work environment and work well under pressure.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be negotiating, booking and co ordinating patient appointments over a multitude of platforms. You will also be the welcoming face of the department so a friendly, professional disposition is an absolute requirement !

Main duties of the job

Post holder will be front of house and the greeting face of the department, therefore must have a pleasant and friendly manner. Will be required to greet the patients and ensure the patients demographics are correct, updating where necessary.
Good communication skills are essential as working alongside the multidisciplinary team, liaising with different departments, trusts and departments to ensure good continuity of care for patient cohort. This includes negotiation of outpatient clinic appointments with patients and subsequent booking of clinics on electronic systems.

Booking Minor surgery appointments for patients within the department following consultation - filling and fully utilising clinical procedure sessions. Liaising with medical secretaries, medical records and other department to ensure correct documentation is available for patient attendance.

The post holder will require a good working knowledge of IT as all systems used in this post are digital.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 in admin or Equivalent Hospital Experience

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of full range of IT skills
  • Experience of data entry, storage of data
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication Skills
  • Ability to overcome communication barriers
  • Evidence of organisational skills and prioritisation
Desirable criteria
  • Has working knowledge of digital systems used within the trust
  • Understanding of RTT referral pathways
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar post, internally or externally

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16.

New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.

Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
