Larch Ward at Meadowfield Hospital in Worthing is calling for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 6 Occupational Therapist with experience of working with people with mental health difficulties and experience of working in Mental Health Services to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team.

The role is for 22.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job
  • Conduct Occupational Assessments and Interventions, emphasizing relapse prevention, establishing roles and routines and promoting recovery.
  • Play a pivotal role in Discharge Planning by conducting Assessments, coordinating Interventions and ensuring a smooth transition for Patients back into the community.
  • Conduct O.T Assessments in home environments to identify O.T interventions and Equipment needs as part of Discharge Planning.
  • Work with Larch Ward's Home First service staffed with O.T and O.T Clinical Support Worker. The Home First service provides up to 6 weeks OT intervention to support earlier and/or safer discharge from the Ward.
  • Group work is an important aspect of the Therapeutic Programme on
Larch Ward and you would have the opportunity to be part of the development and coordination of this.
  • Provide Clinical Supervision to O.T Support Staff and Activity Worker Support Staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate level study/training
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist
  • Practice Education training
  • Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Experience as a Care Coordinator
  • Experience in a clinical area related to the post
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in applying a range of assessment tools and a comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy clinical approaches used in mental health
