[ref. z7934821] Teaching Assistant
We boast a tried and tested route from Teaching Assistant to Higher Level Teaching Assistant to Teacher route with direct links to the SCITT course at George Abbot for those looking to fast track; or an assessment route only for suitable candidates.
Students with SEND are educated both in targeted small groups and in their mainstream classroom. The successful candidate will be working within all subject areas within the school. We are particularly interested in aspiring teachers who would like to gain further experience of working with young people before starting their training.
The post would suit applicants with flexibility, enthusiasm and sensitivity. A desire to learn and to develop an excellent understanding of SEND and other learning difficulties is essential. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a willingness to be a team player alongside our committed support team.SEND related training and the ability to run small group interventions would be advantageous. Progression to teacher training and HLTA roles is dependent on candidate suitability once in the teaching assistant role, opportunities within Kings College for HLTA roles, and/or teaching within subject areas.
We have strong links with the SCITT at George Abbot due to being a fellow school in the Learning Partnership Trust. We have successfully supported four staff in the last year to progress from Teaching Assistants into teaching roles and look to support further aspiring teachers to move into teaching carers.
Successful candidates for this role will benefit from relevant experience, development and trusted references for their progression into teaching.
