Salary: £13.75 - £15 per hour

We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school team and provide targeted support for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

About the Role:

As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping children who are new to English or developing their proficiency. You’ll work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and EAL Coordinator to deliver tailored support—both in-class and through small group or 1:1 interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support EAL pupils in accessing the curriculum and improving their English language skills
  • Develop and deliver engaging language-based activities
  • Assist in creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress to teaching staff
  • Help build pupils’ confidence and participation in school life

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with EAL pupils or has a strong interest in language development
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Is patient, flexible and passionate about supporting children’s learning
  • Can work effectively as part of a supportive team
  • Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) – desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
