EAL Teaching Assistant (Primary School)

Contract Type: Full-time (school hours, term time)

Salary: £13.75 - £15 per hour
We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school team and provide targeted support for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL).
About the Role:
As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping children who are new to English or developing their proficiency. You’ll work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and EAL Coordinator to deliver tailored support—both in-class and through small group or 1:1 interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support EAL pupils in accessing the curriculum and improving their English language skills
- Develop and deliver engaging language-based activities
- Assist in creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor and report on pupil progress to teaching staff
- Help build pupils’ confidence and participation in school life
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with EAL pupils or has a strong interest in language development
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity
- Is patient, flexible and passionate about supporting children’s learning
- Can work effectively as part of a supportive team
- Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) – desirable but not essential
