Lead Maintenance Technician
About the role
At Tesco, our distribution centres could not function without the support of our Maintenance Team. A Lead Maintenance Technician is an integral part of this team, carrying out maintenance procedures, safely, in the DC. This role will cover our Lichfield, Hinckley and Brownhills DCs.
Working closely with the DC MM, the Lead Maintenance Technician will provide day-to-day supervision to our technicians and deliver statutory requirements and proactive planned maintenance promptly and in a cost effective way ensuring the business is able to continue to deliver its promise of serving Britain’s shoppers a little better every day.This role will suit an IST or ST that is ready for their next move.

- This is a mobile role supporting maintenance, reactive breakdowns, and planned works across DC’s.
- Ensuring a safe environment for those who work in customer fulfilment centres.
- Supporting periodic maintenance including but not limited to fire alarm testing, sprinkler testing, HVAC maintenance, building maintenance, water testing.
- Electrical maintenance, reactive repairs, FWT remedials, PAT
- Building effective relationships with the DC technicians, communicating clearly on tasks, and managing expectations where necessary & in a proactive manner.
- Ensuring assets are fixed in line with the agreed SLA’s and are within legal compliance.
- Using the systems available to accurately record work completed and describing work, which needs to be escalated.
- Working closely with internal service teams and external contractors.
- Meeting the necessary legal and compliance standards & record keeping.
- Being aware of the cost implications and ensuring the most effective and efficient fix.
- Experience in supervising a team
- Experience working remotely and traveling between sites
- Good time management
- The ability to build relationships quickly
- Good communication skills
- An awareness of cost and budget controls
- Experienced Tesco System User IT services e.g. Verisae, Microsoft office suite
- An awareness of up to date Health and Safety measures.
Ideal additional skills include:
- Relevant qualifications e.g. H&S
- Supervisory experience
