[ref. u41122700] Research Assistant - Motor Sport Project
Part time contract: 22.75 hours per week
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work with motorsport industry partners to answer questions generated in the field, contributing to projects that inform real-world practices related to physiological health and performance. The focus of the research is on topics related to both health and performance with an emphasis on physiological and nutritional aspects. You will be required to contribute to a diverse battery of testing and assessment methods, including imaging techniques such as dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and ultrasonography, as well as exercise physiology testing protocols (e.g. V̇O2 max, critical power, gas exchange threshold).
The outcomes of these studies will help guide best practices in applied settings, particularly in high-performance environments.
This role is ideal for someone with an interest in research, sport and exercise physiology and nutrition, and working on innovative projects that directly impact field professionals. The ideal candidate must have an MSc (or equivalent) in Sport & Exercise Sciences/Physiology experience performing imaging techniques such as DXA and ultrasound (musculoskeletal and vascular), conducting exercise physiology testing (e.g. V̇O2 max, critical power, gas exchange threshold), performing detailed cardiovascular assessments including electro- and echocardiograms, determining maximal strength assessments for both the upper and lower limbs and the cervical spine, conducting assessments related to thermal physiology, including use of an environmental chamber, core and skin temperature assessments.
You must also be able to evidence the ability to actively engage in and contribute to writing and publishing research articles in peer-reviewed journals. It is desirable, but not essential, that candidates have or are working towards a PhD in sport and exercise sciences (e.g. exercise physiology or nutrition) and have experience conducting detailed nutritional analysis and both basic and advanced molecular analytical techniques.
