We're seeking a dynamic individual, ideally with a trade background, to lead our maintenance function across multiple retirement villages. In this crucial role, you'll ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and resident-focused maintenance services that support our commitment to “better lives for older people”.
This is a location-based, permanent position that is based in the South Region, covering Extra Care villages and schemes in Bristol, High Wycombe, Milton Keynes, Beford and Northamptonshire.

- Role: Maintenance Supervisor
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Salary: £35,000pa, plus £3,500 car allowance
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating repairs and maintenance activities, including grounds and facilities, across multiple large retirement housing locations.
To ensure a safe, comfortable and well-maintained living environment for residents while leading and managing a team of maintenance staff.
Provide leadership to the location maintenance team and have extensive knowledge of building systems to ensure the efficient and effective operation of designated locations.
Main Duties
- Supervise, train, and manage a team of maintenance staff across multiple complex locations, assigning tasks, setting schedules, and monitoring performance to ensure high-quality work and timely completion of work orders.
- Utilising a trade background, carry out minor repairs where possible and drive a high-performance culture within your team where our aspiration is to carry out more repairs ourselves and offer an excellent repairs service to our residents and location teams.
- Establish, coordinate, and regularly attend (as appropriate) group meetings, street meetings and resident surgeries at our locations to problem solve maintenance issues and improve performance. Ensure residents are fully informed and engaged on all matters relating to the maintenance and asset management. Support resident groups to achieve local maintenance goals and objectives.
- Support the Regional Building Surveyors in the timely delivery of all KPI’s and performance metrics on a monthly basis to include regular reviews of contractor performance.
- Respond to emergency situations to support where required, providing technical support to ensure timely resolutions.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and facilities to identify and prioritise maintenance and repair needs, ensuring compliance with relevant UK codes, regulations, and safety standards, such as the Building Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
- Coordinate and oversee the work of external contractors.
- Respond promptly to resident requests and concerns related to maintenance issues, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, repairs, and asset maintenance histories.
- Collaborate with village staff and residents to ensure the smooth delivery of the maintenance service.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures for maintenance staff and contractors, promoting a strong safety culture.
